Jerusalem the Holy City

This itinerary takes us to some of the most sacred sites of Jerusalem’s Old City.

We begin at the Dome of the Rock, site of one of the world’s most splendid architectural spaces with its double octagonal ambulatories.  It is one of the earliest Islamic sanctuaries to survive intact, and third holiest place in Islam. This shrine stands near where the Jewish Temple once stood, the holiest place in Judaism which we will visit after seeing the Al-Aqsa Mosque which stands at the south end of the Temple Mount platform.

We will visit some major historical sites on the Via Dolorosa (Path of Sorrow or “Way of the Cross”), the route Jesus followed from his condemnation by Pilate to the place where he was buried after his crucifixion, today in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
